So we've been on this Indiana Jones rewatch (Raiders, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade) and the last we had to see was the 2008 reboot Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I wasn't looking forward to it. At all. In my memories from my 2008 watch (when the film came out), it wasn't very Indiana Jones, mostly I didn't like that it had aliens (spoilers!). I remembered ants, a good motorcycle chase scene with Indy's son Mutt (spoilers again!), but that was about it. It probably didn't help that people were generally dunking on the film (a reboot after 20 years is meant to ruffle some feathers), and I ended up believing that this was a plain bad movie.

Surprise when rewatching. I actually remembered a lot more than I thought, I just forgot that these scenes were from that movie. The opening scene at the warehouse where the Ark of the Covenant is eventually stored in Raiders. The fridge scene. The three times it drops scene. The ants. These are all actually pretty good, or at least memorable—they've stayed with me for 15 years! It's not a great film of course, but at the end of the day I was pleasantly surprised (my expectations were very low) and I'm excited to watch Dial of Destiny.
